Job description

Client

Our client is an innovative digital healthcare platform that supports urgent care staff scheduling and integrates seamlessly with national health systems. It ensures timely patient care and optimal use of healthcare resources by enabling flexible workforce allocation based on clinician availability, location, and expertise. We are looking for a specialist based in Lithuania to join our team.

Project overview

A data science and AI research initiative focused on solving real-time capacity planning and forecasting challenges in urgent healthcare services. The goal is to apply machine learning techniques to optimize workforce management, predict service availability, and improve patient outcomes. The project works with real operational data from urgent care teams (nurses, paramedics, etc.) to deliver AI-driven insights for short- and long-term staffing and scheduling.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) on operational datasets
  • Pre-process data and handle missing values or inconsistencies
  • Apply a range of machine learning techniques, including regression, classification, clustering, and time-series forecasting
  • Explore key research questions such as: real-time prediction of available capacity
  • Impact analysis of last-minute schedule changes (e.g., cancellations or overruns)
  • Influence of external factors (weather, traffic, etc.) on workforce availability
  • Develop proof of concept models for capacity forecasting
  • Provide recommendations for future AI integration into a workforce management platform
  • Design clear and actionable data visualisations for decision-makers


Requirements

  • Proficiency in Python or R and data science libraries (e.g., pandas, NumPy, SciPy)
  • Experience with ML frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch
  • Familiarity with gradient boosting models (XGBoost, LightGBM, CatBoost)
  • Skilled in working with both structured and unstructured data
  • Background in time-series forecasting, regression, classification, and clustering
  • Interest in applying AI to real-world healthcare challenges
  • Ability to clearly interpret and visualise complex datasets


Nice to have

  • Currently pursuing a PhD in Data Science, AI, or Machine Learning
