As a Senior Cloud Engineer at Rocket Software, you are part of a global, fast-paced IT organization with a primary mission to provide world class service to software development labs and internal departments ensuring our employees can perform at the highest level. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of complex systems in your area of expertise. As a technical leader in cloud infrastructure domains, you will work on a team interacting with development labs to design complex infrastructure and deliver projects on time and on budget. You will identify, analyze, and resolve system issues and report on deficiencies in configuration, process, and documentation as well as develop and recommend corrective actions. You will collaborate with senior members of the team to influence and make suggestions that aid in the designing of technical solutions. You will be called on to operationalize tasks and mentor junior team members empowering them to further their skill sets.
Interact with Rocket development teams to define system and business requirements to support Rocket Software go-to-market efforts in multiple clouds.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand application requirements, develop, implement, and maintain scalable and secure cloud infrastructure solutions that meet business needs in multiple clouds.
Support key technology initiatives including disaster recovery, merger and acquisition activities, capacity planning, and budgeting.
Implement and manage continuous integration and continuous (CI/CD) pipelines.
Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) for automated provisioning and configuration.
Develop automations for monitoring, performance optimization, availability, and security of cloud-based systems.
Implement and maintain security measures to protect cloud-based systems and data and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to cloud security.
Automate monthly reporting of cloud costs and configure budgets or alerts to contain cost overruns.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for cloud infrastructure and processes while acting as a mentor for junior team members and operationalizing tasks where possible.
Perform day-to-day system administration and tasks for assigned systems.
Recommend strategies and standards for all cloud infrastructures.
Provide timely problem resolution, incident management, and root cause analysis related to cloud infrastructure.
Perform duties following all company standards regarding engagement, change management, and escalations.
Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, CIS, MIS, Math, or related field with a minimum 5 years of cloud engineering experience in one or more clouds, preferably AWS and Azure.
Ten or more years of relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting.
Experience deploying systems across cloud vendors including AWS, Azure, Google, IBM or Skytap, with strong expertise in AWS and Azure preferred.
Proficiency in scripting languages for automation such as Terraform, AWS Cloudformation, Ansible, etc.
Strong understanding of networking, security, service control policies, and storage principles in a cloud environment.
Experience in implementing secure architectures for private and/or public Internet facing systems.
Ability to configure and troubleshoot role-based access using federation or identity access management.
Ability to configure autoscaling, redundancy, availability zones and disaster recovery in one or more clouds.
Experience deploying and maintaining one or more containerization platforms such as EKS, ECS, RedShift, ROSA, etc.
Experience deploying and maintaining container registries such as ECR.
Experience deploying and maintaining managed database services in one or more clouds.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; desire and ability to document configurations in support of a larger team.
Good interpersonal skills with a strong focus on listening and questioning to derive the best solutions.
Strong project management skills and attention to details with a customer focus is critical.
Ability and motivation to learn new technologies quickly and with minimal support and guidance.
Ability to present ideas and solutions to challenging issues; then lead and implement those ideas.
Ability to present ideas and concepts in a team environment that values data-driven decisions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with multiple cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, Google, IBM or Skytap
Experience running proof-of-concept or demo environments in a cloud environment
Familiarity with DevOps orchestration and automation concepts
Understanding of server technologies such as Windows and Unix/Linux
Understanding of ITIL processes
