BMI Group, a leader in the Roofing sector, is seeking an accomplished Google Cloud Data Engineer to join a brand new and evolving team. For the past 4 to 5 years, BMI Group has undergone significant transformation across all functions. There is inherent technical debt, which has inhibited the use of data and analysis of insights. As the Google Cloud Data Engineer, you will support the strategic direction of BMI’s first data lake. This role requires a seasoned expert with extensive experience in Google Cloud Data Engineering ideally in the manufacturing sector.

What you will be responsible for:

• Contributing towards the new Platform strategy which is aligned with the wider technology and business strategies (in particular Standard Industries) through successful project delivery
• Work with our parent company (Standard Industries) to leverage architects, engineers and third party suppliers to plan, design, build and deliver robust pipelines
• You will be working hands-on developing the cloud infrastructure environments, such as Google and leverage Infrastructure as Code principles
• The core will be working hands-on developing the data pipelines, utilizing CI/CD methodologies
• Owning and delivering activities on projects you are assigned, ensuring all solutions provide the required level of availability, performance and security throughout the project and into ongoing operations
• Ensuring (in conjunction with Information Security and technology) that all infrastructure components are delivered to the appropriate level of risk with respect to security patches, software/firmware revision levels and supplier supported versions
• Proactively recommending and suggesting service improvements in the areas of reliability, performance, availability, security, supportability or cost throughout the projects and for future projects\roadmaps
• Take ownership and be responsible for meeting agreed project deadlines and activities
• Contribute and assist the support teams to help resolve any major Incidents, as and when required, outside of project work

About you:

• 5+ years in a similar cross functional engineering roles
• Proven experience designing, implementing, and optimizing data solutions on Google Cloud
• Strong proficiency in SQL
• Hands-on experience with data integration tools and technologies such as Apache Beam, Dataflow, or Cloud Dataprep
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD
• Google BigQuery, Google Looker Data Studio, Google Storage
• Python, Java, or Go for scripting and automation
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development methodologies
• 3rd party vendor collaboration/management, including Service Integrators and Consultancies

What will make you stand-out:

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Business, Information Systems or related field.
• Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud, Celonis Symbio, Looker Data Studio including SAP products like SAP SLT, BODS, Information Steward, MDG etc.
• French or German language proficiency.
• Leadership, team management and coaching skills.

Salary ranges from 4750 to 5100 euro gross depending on your experience.
