Job description:

As the GL Accounting Team Lead, you will be organizing and managing the team of GL Accountants to deliver their accountabilities on time and to a high quality. Also, you will be responsible for process and policy adherence and compliance, responsible for the timely, complete and accurate accounting for assigned Legal entity(s), and for ensuring that the accounting for assigned Legal entity is in line with BMI policies and standards-compliant with local statutory regulations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develops and owns the month, quarter and year end close timetables and therein managing the GL accountants to discharge their responsibilities effectively;
  • Drives continuous improvement in the accounting for each legal entity through process, data, systems (e.g. Robotics) and or prioritization (e.g. Stop/Start/Continue) efforts. Seeks to develop the team with giving them ownership and involvement in these CI initiatives;
  • Problem solves and fixes issues within the team and with related process teams like AP, Intercompany, Stats etc.;
  • Develops the team, seeks to provide opportunities for them to attain accredited experience, and stay abreast of changes Accounting;
  • Is on the front foot with engaging the business where there are issues of non-compliance with process, typically this will be through the sharing of KPIs, also with engaging the finance business partner where there is an important implication to the results of the business as a result of an update to for example an accounting policy , and / or an impairment review etc.‘
  • Oversee preparation of the monthly P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statement for each Legal Entity;
  • Oversee the review and analysis of the results before submitting to Group;
  • Oversee preparation of Legal Entity variance analysis and investigate major movements;
  • Support business / business partners through educating and advising them on accounting matters ensuring the business activities are correctly reflecting in the books of record;
  • Attain assurance that entries are booked in line with accounting policies and standards and assurance that full balance sheet reconciliations are performed on a regular basis;
  • Support audits with information and explanations as required;
  • Work in conjunction with Intercompany team, Statutory team, and Tax with inputs/outputs to support these interrelated processes.


Requirements:

  • Relevant Team Lead working experience in accounting;
  • Good leadership, team player, problem-solving skills;
  • Knowledge of accounting standards, accounting Systems (preferably SAP), HFM knowledge would be considered as advantage;
  • Good understanding of customer engagement, customer services processes;
  • English language skills (preferably C1 or higher).
